Track 1: Computer Science Bachelor Track
This track is intended for students who enter the RSE Master with a Bachelor in Computer Science. Because the computer-science foundations are already covered by the entry degree, the corresponding modules carry 0 ECTS here; the freed-up capacity is invested into elective computer-science depth, software engineering, a domain specialization, and the RSE-specific competencies.
The curriculum follows the six competency areas (Bereiche) of Table 5.1 of the curricular recommendations. The table below reproduces that structure — including its colour coding — with the ECTS that apply to Track 1.
Curriculum Structure (Track 1)
| Area / Module | ECTS (Track 1) |
|---|---|
| Computer Science | 18 |
| Foundations of Computer Science | 0 |
| Foundations of Software Development | 0 |
| Algorithms and Data Structures | 0 |
| Computer Science Elective | 18 *** |
| Software Engineering | 18 |

A value of 0 ECTS means the competency is already provided by the Computer Science entry Bachelor and is listed only for completeness.
** Recommended for Track 1 students interested in natural-science RSE as an alternative to the elective Software Engineering courses.
*** Recommended courses for the elective area, subject to availability (see alternatives in the text). The specific computer-science electives are listed on the Computer Science Elective page.
